The geriatric population is growing rapidly in our society, which means a higher number of older adults with psychiatric issues, however, there is a paucity of specialized geriatric psychiatrists.
Therefore, we have to improve the knowledge and skills of the general psychiatrists, family physicians, and geriatricians who are expected to help the majority of older adults with psychiatric illnesses.
