Overview
Infectious diseases (Bubonic plague and tuberculosis) scourges in history have had overwhelming effects on improvised human populations. These plagues provide many lessons to learn if we want to be ready to contain the spread of the new Red Plague of which Gram-negative resistance is responsible. Therefore, combining the strategies of antibiotic stewardship which improves the use of antimicrobial medications with the goal of enhancing patient health outcomes, decreasing unnecessary costs with the use of infection control protocols, and discontinue treating the colonization of microorganisms in asymptomatic patients are examples of what we should do!
