English Overview
The American College of Physicians (ACP) is a leading authority in the world. It provides significant educational contribution to the practice of internal medicine.This is the second conference organized by the Saudi Chapter of the ACP.
Internal medicine is a huge specialty with a wide variety of clinical disciplines.It represents a significant component for the real practice of any clinician regardless of his/her primary specialty. There is a current international trend towards focusing on medical interventions and less or minor surgical interventions.There is also more focus from educational point of view on the quality of training and care in the outpatient settings and in the community.This is based on basic epidemiological findings where most patients are placed in the outpatient rather than in the in-hospital settings.
The aim of this conference is to disseminate clinical knowledge and practical skills to clinicians in simplified approaches.The latest advances in common medical specialties will be presented in several update sessions.Controversial points and complex issues related to management of medical problems will be addressed in carefully designed workshops and debate sessions.There is a devoted time for training in communication and research skills.There are hands-on training workshops on several clinical skills needed for junior and senior clinicians as well.
An encouraging educational environment will be created for all residents to compete in presenting fascinating cases in internal medicine.This ACP conference is a great learning experience!
