This session covers the basics on how to interpret, and understand the most common blood bank cases; such as antibody identification, ABO discrepancy, and mismatches. The case studies will be illustrated with just enough detail to help you figure out a systematic way to approach them. It emphasizes real world applications and move knowledge from theory to practical.

High-quality assessment is an essential and integral part of any educational process; we cannot separate it from learning and teaching.. Assessment drives learning.” This classic statement by George E. Miller (1919–1998) succinctly encapsulates the central role of assessment in any form of education. Effective student assessment can only drive learning, but effective assessment will appropriately answer the question: “How well does the individual perform?” .To ensure the effectiveness of the assessment process, rigorous and continuous steps and observations must be followed. These multiple steps and observations are necessary to avoid or compensate for any flaws that may occur in the entire assessment process. The steps begin by identifying the purpose of the assessment, followed by the selection of the learning outcomes (LOs) to be assessed in specific exams, and then by designing the test blueprint, followed by selecting and writing test items aligned with the LOs. The final step is to evaluate the quality of the exam through item analysis to detect poorly performing or poorly developed test items and to ensure assessment quality through psychometric analysis.

The aim of this course is to train faculty members in health colleges on applying a six-step approach for standardizing student assessment in their courses to ensure assessment effectiveness.

Effective communication is essential for physicians and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in all fields. Every HCP at some point is asked to deliver a presentation to an audience which might range from a small gathering from own department to a hall full of HCPs in a national or international medical conference. Teachers deliver lectures to students on a daily basis. PowerPoint remains the most common medium of presentation all around the globe. Despite the need to master the skill of creating engaging PowerPoint presentations and deliver interesting talks and lectures, HCPs are not formally taught this skill. This frequently results in poorly prepared slides which fail to make an impact on the audience and convey the message effectively. This session is an one-hour OSCE session. The session will include 3 of the most common case scenarios in such exams.
There will be a 8-10 minutes live discussion between one of the participants and the speaker on a case scenario, followed by a 10 min questions/feedback for clarification.
The cases will include an approach to history taking and management of different scenarios.

This lecture will be a sample for a paid OSCE course which will be conducted after few months, to get the residents to try and be familiar with our virtual classes and how to use its utilities such as activating the microphone and be interactive with the presenter.
