Approximately 90%-95% of people with Diabetes have type 2 Diabetes which results from decreased sensitivity to insulin (Insulin resistance). Controlling blood sugar levels can help prevent these complications. Insulin therapy is recommended for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and an initial A1C level greater than 9 percent, or if diabetes is uncontrolled despite optimal oral glycemic therapy.
