Overview

Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are a threat to patient safety. Although significant progress has been made in preventing some healthcare-associated infection types, there is much more work to be done. On any given day, about one in 31 hospital patients has at least one healthcare-associated infection (CDC,2018).

The most common way for transmission of infection is via healthcare workers' hands!. Therefore, following Standard precautions consider as a first step in preventing infection transmission.

This course will cover the basic infection control practices that apply to all patient care.
