Medical Errors in Laboratory
Overview
Laboratory testing is a very complex process and, although laboratory services are relatively safe, they are not as safe as they should be. Laboratories used to focus their attention on quality control and assessment programs dealing with analytical aspects of testing. However, a growing evidence accumulated recently established that quality in clinical laboratories cannot be assured by only focusing on analytical aspects. The more recent surveys on laboratory errors conclude that most errors are due to pre-analytical factors and post-analytical phase.
The use of clinical laboratory test results in clinical decisions and it is an integral part of clinical medicine. Moreover, studies showed that laboratory medicine determines 70% of clinical decisions. therefore, it is crucial to ensure its quality and adequacy.
Join us in this course to learn more about the prevention of pre analytical, analytical, and post analytical errors in the laboratory.
