Overview

This introductory course offers a comprehensive suite of training and qualifications in health, safety and environmental management. This course educates the trainees to help them improve their knowledge and skills, reduce risks, make workplaces healthier and safer for everyone and improve long-term business performance. This course is comprised of 16 hours of classroom and skill lab training. The course content is generic and applicable to general healthcare providers in any facility or location. The course provides the essential education when developing a healthcare provider to practice autonomously within variable healthcare settings.

What I will learn?

The overall purpose from this course program is to enable individual healthcare provider to become autonomous, self-directed, proficient in delivering safe and efficient patient care.
At the completion of this course, the trainees will be able to enhance and develop practice through the professional attributes of reflection, flexibility and maintenance of high professional standards. The specific objectives are:

•Promote and apply the principles of good generic communication
•Apply aspects of safety in the healthcare settings
•Identify hospital hygiene, asepsis and the different methods of disinfection and sterilization
•Ensure that healthcare provider know how to work safely and without risks to health
•Develop a positive health and safety culture
•Meet legal duty to protect the health and safety of healthcare professionals
•Will contribute towards making healthcare provider competent in health and safety
•Provide the healthcare provider with information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable
• Identify the skills and knowledge needed for healthcare providers to do their job in a safe and healthy way
• Provide the trainees with basic knowledge and skills to manage injuries and near miss cases
•Increase awareness of healthcare providers about hazards and risks in healthcare settings, to identify hazards and evaluate risks, and instruct them about the measures for controlling them
